Nic & JP’s Elopement

A Cozy Fall Elopement in the Colorado Mountains | Breckenridge & Fairplay

Nic and JP were totally my kind of people: quirky, adventurous, and absolutely obsessed with their dogs. What more could you want in clients?

Most of our planning happened over email, but we met up the day before their elopement for a hike to explore two possible ceremony spots. After scouting, we settled on a gorgeous, private gulch just outside of Breckenridge—remote, peaceful, and surrounded by the kind of mountain beauty that takes your breath away.

Their wedding day was classic Colorado fall: a little dark, a little moody, and insanely beautiful. Nic expertly navigated a 4x4 road in their truck, shaving nearly 45 minutes off our hike (very helpful for those of us with 30+ pounds of photography gear to carry uphill at altitude!). With hiking boots laced up, we made our way to a rocky bluff next to a stream, tucked in among the peaks.

The ceremony was emotional and intimate. There were tears all around, myself included. Their vows were deeply personal and full of heart. Afterward, we popped champagne just as the skies opened up with a mix of rain and snow. Classic mountain magic.

We ended the day back at their cozy home in Fairplay, where we were greeted by their two sweet huskies—each decked out in a flower collar and bow tie. To top it all off, Nic and JP had not just a wedding cake for themselves, but a dog-friendly cake for their pups too. Everyone got a slice of love that day, and it was the perfect ending to an unforgettable elopement.
