Andrew & Tara’s engagement photos turned out to be way more eventful than I had expected. Originally, we were to do the photos at a park I’ve photographed in a million times but while I was there earlier in the day the park rangers said I needed a permit. I was super grumpy because you definitely don’t. (It’s not listed on their website and when I called the head office the next week they told me it wasn’t and apologized for the ranger’s behavior, but the ranger was dead set on not having us there and there was nothing I could do at the time, so away we went.) We then quickly ran through a list of other options in the area. To make matters worse there were patchy rain showers going off and on so we had to check the radar to make sure we weren’t running into a deluge. We finally settled on the area of my old horse barn. Beautiful rolling hills, nice woods, a good mix of things. Wellllll, turns out there was a weekend long horse competition there and the grounds were closed. UGH!
Finally, I remembered this teeny little park only about a mile away. Radar didn’t look good for the time we had picked but it was good about an hour before that. Thankfully, Andrew & Tara were happy to get over there early to start the session. I hadn’t photographed there in years but I knew it was peaceful and filled with woods that were bound to be showing off all their Fall colors that weekend and boy was I right!
Now, this was also the first time I was meeting these two cuties—they had booked after a phone consult as Andrew lives in Pennsylvania, Tara lives in Virginia, and I’m here in Colorado so there was definite added pressure to make all this work on this particular weekend! When we (finally) got to photographing, it was a bunch of fun. Andrew & Tara were down to try whatever I asked of them and were some of the best photo snugglers! Just take a peek at these two all cozy’d up!
Oh and yeah…the rain totally came in and started riiiight as we were finishing up the session. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect! The universe always has a way of working out!
